Our School

For more than twenty years our little school has touched the hearts, minds and souls of children and their families.

Metamorphosis School provides children with a true home-away-from-home, while implementing the educational strategies of the visionary educator Dr. Maria Montessori.

It has been deeply gratifying to be immersed in Montessori education for the last twenty years.

We have witnessed changes in our culture which influence children adversely. Families can be harried and children are hurried. There has never been a better time for the peaceful environment that a Montessori "children's house" can provide.

We Believe...

We believe that Dr. Montessori was ahead of her time when one hundred years ago she stated, "The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the period from birth to the age of six...for that is the time when intelligence itself, her greatest implement, is being formed." Dr. Montessori established her classrooms and researched young children extensively, gaining incredible insight into the mind and spirit of the young child. Montessori schools have flourished worldwide ever since.

In the Montessori environment, children have time to "be." They are able to experiment physically, mentally and socially. They are able to make mistakes, without fear of judgement, that often teach them valuable lessons. In today's harried culture, the Montessori environment allows the child long periods of time to work and play. Children require these prolonged periods of play in order to develop concentration, imagination and attention span. The environment is also an escape from having to "be somewhere" constantly. We never have to hurry at Montessori School!

Today's educational reform is driven by research of the past few decades and calls for the following: early childhood education, multi-aged classrooms, cross-discipline, whole language, writing before reading, development of self-discipline, teaching values, using hands-on-materials, fostering scientific and mathematical aptitudes, nurturing appreciation of history, time lines, cultural differences, care of our global society - all in a school setting with a family atmosphere.

We believe that today's educational reformers are describing a Montessori School!
